Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President, has contributed GH 30,000 to chef Abdul-Razak Failatu to help pay expenses incurred during her bid to break the Guinness World Record in a cook-a-thon.

In a donation on behalf of the Vice President, Northern Regional Minister Shani Alhassan Saibu noted that the chef’s choice to organize the cooking-a-thon in Tamale will put the region on the map and demonstrate that the region has so lot to offer in terms of hospitality.

“We are here on our behalf and behalf of his excellence the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and behalf of His excellence and flagbearer of my party Dr Mahamaudu Bawumia. He has asked us to make a donation on his behalf because duty has taken him out of the country.

“We are here to make a donation of GH₵30,000 from the Vice president to aid her in her ambition to break the Guinness World Record,” he said on January 1, 2023.

Mr. Saibu expressed his gratitude and wished Chef Failatu a new record that would be tough for anyone to break.

Chef Failatu’s effort to complete the world’s longest cooking marathon began on January 1, 2024.

She hopes to shatter the existing Guinness World Record for the longest cook-a-thon, held by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes.

She is trying this accomplishment at Tamale’s Modern City Hotel.
